At Volunteer Programs Bali we provide free English classes and other activities for underprivileged children in Bali, Indonesia. Our mission is to provide – with the help of volunteers – classes and events to inspire and empower the Balinese children and their communities, throughout all socio-economic classes.
We work with different local schools and communities in Bali. Volunteers will have the opportunity to enjoy the wonderful culture of Bali, while helping underprivileged Balinese children achieve their fullest potential.
The different volunteer programs, spread across Bali, allow us to reach and engage with more segments of the population, whilst also providing different volunteering experiences for our volunteers.
Our volunteer programs in Bali are tailored so that it synergies with the traditions and customs upheld by the local community. In doing so, we grow with the community.
Aside from providing free English classes for the children, we also provide and support workshops and events held for and by the community. We use these events and workshops to help inspire and empower the community.
We are also constantly seeking out new opportunities to expand and improve our volunteer programs for the greater good of the community. It is a virtuous cycle that we are keeping on going.
VP Bali is founded by Kimberley Vanderheyden.
Kimberley is a passionate advocate on the powerful effects of giving to others and the positive influence on the individual and their community.
Once a volunteer herself, with both children and animals, Kimberley knows firsthand the emotional and personal growth one experiences when you give to others. It is this experience that has driven her to provide the same rewarding experience to those wanting to give back and to see life through the eyes of another culture.
“ Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world. ”
Nelson Mandela
During her years of living in Bali, she has developed a true connection with the Balinese people and their way of life. She understands the Balinese values and its premise that community and family is of utmost importance. It is with this understanding that she runs all the volunteer programs, perfectly in line with the Balinese morals, values and traditions. All the while maintaining a trusting and transparent volunteer organization to encourage the personal development of Balinese children, so they have a chance at a brighter future.
She has made it her personal mission to make sure that volunteers in Volunteer Programs Bali are placed into the caring, safe, supportive and sustainable volunteer program and that each of them have the ultimate goal of bringing inspiration and education to ultimately empower the children of Bali. To increase their confidence and their skills, so that they may live the life they deserve to live!
Kimberley does not only put her heart and her soul into VP Bali, she practices all of these values outside of the NGO as well.
Supporting her local village and its people through creating jobs, encouraging and helping out the local youngsters who need internships and those who can’t afford to go to university. She is committed to helping and supporting all those around her, and she aims to be the bridge between hopelessness and opportunity. She also does the same for every village where our schools are; creating jobs and encouraging everyone to do the best they can to create a good life for themselves.
She firmly believes that:
“ From what we get, we can make a living, what we give, however, makes a life ”
