Since the Valley’s environment is way different than that of Ubud, both socially and geographically, you should pack accordingly. Aside from the general pack list, a set of warm clothes or two is mandatory because even though it’s real hot in the day, it’s chilly and windy at night. Don’t forget a pair of sandals and good hiking shoes; you’ll want to enjoy morning trekking!
Since the Valley is a traditional village, traditional customs apply. That means no revealing outfits, like tank tops, sleeveless shirts, hot pants, etc. when you’re in public. This applies especially for women. Bring pants that cover your ankles and shirts that cover up your shoulders (or elbows).
Also, bring some books, like novels, or an e-book reader along. You’ll thank us later in the next post.
